Additional Penalties

In addition to the above mentioned penalties, the state may:

  • Force you to undergo alcohol or drug addiction treatment
  • Require restricted license plates
  • Immobilize your vehicle
  • Require the forfeiture of your vehicle
  • Install ignition interlock device

Refusal to Submit for an Alcohol Test

Refusing to submit for a test of your blood alcohol content (BAC) in Ohio will automatically suspend your license for a time length similar to the length of suspension you would have faced for a DUI/OVI. There is an additional penalty that doubles the time you must wait to receive limited driving privileges.
